Wealth management questions
What is the difference between wealth management and financial planning?
Financial planning maps out your goals and the steps to reach them. Wealth management adds the ongoing work of managing your investments and coordinating them with taxes, retirement income, insurance and estate planning. At AGL Financial, we aim to manage investments as part of a broader plan rather than on their own.
How are your advisors compensated?
It depends on the accounts and products involved. Our advisors may be paid through advisory fees, commissions or both, which creates potential conflicts of interest. We walk you through the costs and how we are compensated before you decide anything. Cambridge’s Form CRS summarizes the services, fees and conflicts of interest that apply, and is available on this website or on request.
What happens in the first meeting?
The first conversation is about understanding your goals, your current accounts and what is on your mind. We will explain any costs before we begin working together. If it makes sense to move forward, the next step is building your plan.
Can a diversified portfolio protect me from losses?
No. Diversification and asset allocation can help manage risk, but they do not ensure a profit or protect against loss in a declining market. All investing involves risk, including the possible loss of principal. That is why we match your investment mix to your time horizon, income needs and comfort with risk.
